Stumpy? Are you serious? What, you didn’t name him cocky because people would confuse him for KP? Or Dicky, because people would confuse him with the umpire? Or Boner because, well that would just be ridiculous?
Stumpy can mean all sorts of things. Funny (if not juvenile) things. Just what you’d want your family audience to be discussing every time it comes up on the screen. The commentators will keep tripping on it with a few awful unintentional puns… I can already imagine Sivaramkrishnan saying something like “There’s the mascot for this world cup, Stumpy, an elephant, probably named after a stump – short thick wood.. and in a few minutes we’ll be showing you stumpy cam!”
Stumpy seems to live up to his name… rotate that pic 45° and you can make out an extremely small phallic body(with a big head though)… See:

This might be the ICC’s best mascot ever… Big dickheads, incapable of satisfying anyone… what could be more apt? Or is it that we’ll all be stumped by how the ICC pulls this one off?
